The Process

Process:
Once you have a Job Confirmation, the countertop project goes through the steps of templating, fabrication, tear out and installation. Tear out and installation takes place on the same day.
Template:
When we arrive for templating, we ask that you have cleared your countertops and keep the work area free of any objects. This will help us to finish the template efficiently, and will also protect your items from any dust or damage. Templates usually take about an hour or so depending on the kitchen size. During the template process, we make a pattern of your cabinets. During this phase:

  • All sinks, cook tops, and faucets are checked for compatibility and fit (therefore all such units must be on-site for the template).
  • Cabinets are reviewed for any adjustments required, as best can be determined.
  • Overhang, general support and any personal preferences are discussed. Any refinements needed to cabinetry, etc., which will be required prior to installation of your countertops, will be discussed with you.
  • Seam placement will be discussed.

Sink:
During installation, your under mount sink(s), if applicable, will be mounted under your stone.
Also, cook tops and faucets, etc. will be dropped into place for confirmation of fit.
Project Information:
Below is a list of information we will ask for prior to the production process. We prefer to obtain all of this information/material while making the template or soon after.

  • Sinks (we will bring under mount sinks back to the shop)
  • Faucet hole placement and number of holes to be drilled.
  • Cook top/Range make and model; cutout dimensions; downdraft when applicable
  • Edge preference

Fabrication:
Prior to fabrication, we encourage you to approve your slabs.
Tear Out:
If your project requires that we tear out and remove your existing countertops, we will do so at time of installation. We will also disconnect your plumbing at time of tear out, so be sure not to use your dishwasher until your plumber has reconnected the water.
Installation:
At installation, we ask that you also clear the work area of any objects and clear a path for the installers to carry the granite. The installation phase can take the better part of a day; and can require some final cutouts to be made in your home. Please keep in mind that this is a major remodeling job, there may be some residual dust over the next couple of days, be sure to check items left in cabinets. We recommend the drawers be removed. Items under cook top and sink cabinet must be removed to allow access. Some dust can result even though our installers are equipped to catch the majority of it.
Job Completion:
Your inspection of the finished job is very important. The lead installer will review the installation with you, answer any questions you may have and ask for payment of the final balance due for your project.
