Reasons to Choose Granite Countertops
Granite is a natural stone product with a timeless look and appeal that will take your kitchen to the “next level.” It comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns to match to your current, or desired, look and decor. It lies near the top of the hardness scale and will withstand heavy use, direct heat and is very resistant to stains when properly sealed. In the kitchen, you can find yourself safely placing hot pans or cutting vegetables directly on the surface without damage. Despite this, we still recommend using a cutting board as you’ll find yourself dulling your knives more than it’s worth.
Make Sure to Seal Your Surface
Granite countertops are one of the best stone materials to use for kitchen and bath countertops, but there are some steps needed to ensure their beauty will last. The biggest issue lies with countertops not being properly sealed, or the sealant wearing off and not being resealed. Since granite is a porous material, it will absorb juice, oils or colored liquids (such as wine) causing a stain that might be impossible to remove. Be sure to have your countertop properly sealed and ask your design specialist about the frequency you may need to reseal the surface.
